Docent Handbooks

Volunteering in a host community? Docent handbooks for each of our Museum on Main Street exhibitions can help! A valuable experience to visitors incorporates much more than reciting information from the exhibition. Have a conversation with your visitors. Ask them what the concepts, images and objects in the exhibition mean to them.

Get them to tell you stories and memories that inform their understanding of the exhbitiion. Use the handbook to learn more about the major concepts in each exhibition. Let the questions in the handbook help you formulate your own questions for visitors. Add your own memories and stories of your community’s history!
